Why Did Gus Kill Victor in the TV drama ‘Breaking Bad’?

Breaking Bad is an American drama series centered on a crime narrative. Vince Gilligan, the show’s creator and producer, filmed the set in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The television show aired on AMC from January 2008 to September 2013 with a total of five seasons, comprising 62 episodes.

Walter White, played by Bryan Cranston, is the story’s main protagonist. He is a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife Skyler, portrayed by Anna Gunn, and his son Walter, Jr. (RJ Mitte), who has cerebral palsy. White is in a character dilemma as he was diagnosed with stage three cancer and given an ultimatum of two years to enjoy life.

To secure his family’s financial stability, White decided to join the dangerous world of drugs and crime. The series continued to show the societal constraints White experiences alongside his diagnosis, a typical father and husband transformed into a kingpin of the drug trade.

Vince Gilligan, the show’s director, had writing experience for the series The X-Files on Fox Network. Gilligan believed that a dynamic character such as a protagonist turning into the enemy was risky as it defies the traditional setup of a story. The show’s title became a constant reminder of how Walter White’s transformation became an influential factor in the story’s overall impact.

Why is Breaking Bad a popular television show?

Breaking Bad’s pilot episode generally received positive reviews. Experts lauded the drama series as one of the greatest television series of all time. The viewer’s rating drastically increased during the premiere of the second half of the fifth season. At the same time, the finale became one of the most watched drama series in American television history.

Casts included Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, and RJ Mitte, the primary characters, followed by Betsy Brandt, Dean Norris, Marie Schrader, Bob Odenkirk, and Jonathan Banks. At the same time, Jesse Plemons was introduced during the final season.

The television show justified its high viewership rating with stunning visuals and remarkable cinematography. Director Gilligan showed his craftmanship as every episode magnified different character arcs. References to chemistry, as White was a teacher in chemistry, dialogues were applauded by the critics. The plot touched on the story of a dream for transformation, like the main character, White.

White’s timid attribute with a usual demeanor, which gradually changed into a seemingly ruthless and self-centered personality, brought the audience into a quandary. The series became poetic and dramatic every season, creating a perfect timing of ending the story with White’s death. Unlike other shows where the audience mourns the protagonist’s death as the finale, the show’s ending satisfied the viewers.
